About the Winemaker: Opolo Vineyards in Paso Robles California sits on a beautiful property with rolling hills, warm weather, and lots of beautiful vines. I usually try to visit when I make a trip to the region; they have won more awards than I can count and have an extensive list of wines which makes it an ideal stop on a tasting tour. They have something for everyone and the quality of the wine is great too!
Color: Firebrick
Nose: Big fruit on this one.; cherry, blackberry, and raspberry. Also there is some mint, and tobacco
Taste: Cherry, oak, red berries, and vanilla.
Assessment: I’m not quite sure what the blend percentage wise is on this one. There is just enought of thie Petite Sirah “inkyness” on the palate to let you know the grape accounts for a significant part of the blend; that’s a good thing. Opolo makes a great Central California Petite Sirah in my opinion. The juice in this bottle is full bodied, silky smooth and has generous yet balanced amounts of tannins and acidity. Unique flavor notes of pine nut is a nice touch, as is lingering vanilla Overtones on the finish. Ready to drink now.
I’ve been prety open about my soft spot for quality wine blends, and Opolo Concerto is a winning blend at a great price. Very good 89 points.
