Our goal is to assist you in making a great choice based on quality and value to enhance your evenings or celebrations. We assign a rating based on the following considerations.
The Barrel Cellar 100 point wine rating system
Truly Memorable (96-100 points) – These wines are truly unique. They display remarkable quality and value.
Exceptional (92-95 points) – These wines reflect the quality product of a skilled wine maker and offer an exraordinary value.
Very Good (88-91 points) – These wines are distinguished, but don’t reflect the rare quality of our higher rated wines. These are great wines for a casual evening at home or a reasonably priced dinner date.
Good (85-87 points) – These are good wines that are worthy of your purchase. Great for a dependable go to anytime wine. Value provides for an opportunity to invest in a mix of similar rated wines or purchase by the case.
The Barrel Cellar 100 point bourbon rating system
Truly Memorable (96-100 points) – These bourbons are truly unique. They display remarkable quality and value. Bourbons of this quality are usually a product of limited release batches.
Exceptional (92-95 points) – These bourbons reflect the quality spirit of a skilled craftsman and offer an exraordinary value.
Very Good (88-91 points) These bourbons are distinguished, but don’t reflect the rare quality of our higher rated bourbons. These are great for a casual evening at home or a poker night.
Good (85-87 points) – These are our go to bourbons. Great drinking and great value.
The Barrel Cellar 5 point beer rating system
Truly Memorable (5 points) – Brewed by a craftsman. Don’t pass an opportunity to purchase this release.
Exceptional (4 points) – These beers don’t qualify as uncommon, but they are worth seeking them out.
Very Good (3 points) – A well balanced beer with character. These beers won’t impress your beer geek friends, but are great for an afternoon or evening out.
Beer (1-2) points – These beers are average; they don’t provide a unique experience or elevated value. The Barrel Cellar typically will not review these beers.
