About the Winemaker: Fess Parker purchased the property that would become his vineyard and winery in 1988. The Rodney’s Vineyard portion was planted in 1989 with predominantly Rhone style varietals. Current head Winemaker Blair Fox has been with the team since 2005.
Color: Dark Scarlett
Nose: Tart berries, floral notes.
Taste: Cherry, smoke, clove, oak pulp, vanilla, and a hint of crab apple. Finish Dried herbs and oak
Assessment: This wine is medium to full bodied. Tannins are reserved and the acidity is pleasant. There is a nice silky texture and a strong bold character here. After 7 years there is still quite a bit of heat spice, which after decanting mellowed out nicely. Could stand another 2-3 years in the cellar but ready to drink now.
Fess Parker 2012 Rodney’s Vineyard Syrah is a good wine. 88 points
