About the Winery:  A few years back, a friend and I were headed south to Portland from Seattle on I-5.  We noticed on the GPS a few wineries clustered nearby and stopped in to Three Brothers to try some of their wine.  I’m glad we did.  The wine was great, the wine maker was welcoming and informative, and I left with a few great bottles of wine at a fantastic price.  This was one of them.

Three Brothers is a family owned operation and was named the 2018 Washington State winery of the year by the Berlin International Wine Competition.

Color:  Alabama Crimson

Nose:  Cherry and oak

Taste:  Cherries, ripened plum, candied apple, fresh oregano and mint.    Black pepper on the finish

Assessment:  This is a light bodied old world style wine; it’s fruit forward and very well balanced.  This wine has everything I love about the Pacific North West wine regions; volcanic earthiness, unpretentious elegance, and flavor.  It seems a good mix of the Willamette Valley’s softness and the Columbia Valley’s boldness.  It’s an easy drinker with lots of flavor. Whether driving south in I-5 or surfing the web.  Do yourself a favor and pay them a visit.  This wine is a steal at the price point of $29 and you can buy some here.  Ready to drink now

Three Brothers Vineyard & Winery 2010 Cabernet Franc 88 points

Pairing recommendation:  Mild White Cheddar, Blue Cheese, Pasta or Fillet Mignon
