Nose: Chocolate covered raisins, oak (neat). Cinnamon (2 cubes).
Taste: Full bodied, the smoothness of this bourbon is impressive considering the high alcohol content. First taste (poured neat): leather, raisins, black pepper, and a hint of charcoal. Drop a couple of ice cubes in your glass and the leather, raisins, black pepper and charcoal remain, but oak comes to the front. Sustained finish of black pepper and plum.
Assessment: This bourbon holds both character and balance. I’m sitting here wondering what term to use in place of bromance, as this is a bottle of bourbon not an awesome new best friend. Bourbomance? Yeah that’s it, bourbomance. It could be the high proof talking but that’s what this bourbon and I have. Considering the price point of $40 dollars, this bottle is an inexpensive date.
Old Ezra Barrel Strength 7 is an exceptional value. 92 Points
